On a recent Finding the Unicorn in You podcast, Tamara recounted her journey from a vivid dream to a completed book. Tamara Smith took an imaginative leap from payroll manager to published author with her paranormal romance novel Coming Into Power.

A Story Demanding to Be Told

One night, Tamara had a strikingly detailed dream that unfolded like a movie. With her husband's encouragement, she poured the scenes and characters onto the page, finishing a rough draft quickly. Tamara brought readers into each character's perspective to convey their full complexity.

Overcoming Doubts

Though initially unsure if anyone would read her unusual tale, positive feedback from family, friends, and readers motivated Tamara to continue. She advises shutting down self-doubts and focusing on accomplishment. Tamara found writing filled a sense of fulfillment she didn't know was missing.

Lessons for aspiring authors

For aspiring authors, Tamara suggests first drafting an outline to connect scenes. She recommends professional editing to polish the finished product. Though juggling writing with work and family, Tamara stresses making time for your passion. Start small - consistency compounds.

Unicorn Lesson

Tamara urges listeners to let curiosity guide them down the rabbit hole of their interests. Persist through roadblocks to see your vision through. In the end, you'll be happier having pursued your purpose. Tamara exemplifies how we all have untapped potential waiting to be unveiled.
